North London Review - Games To Both Arsenal and Spurs

Well...who would have thought it at half time, the score being 1-1? Fulham v Arsenal was, frankly, the battle of two teams with good players. Let's not take away from Fulham that they have Seri and Mitrovic, along with a host of other good players including Schurrle. And, at times, tactically, the teams looked well matched. Despite a regular goal from Lacazette, the score was 1-1, with Arsenal edging the first half. However, another goal from Laca, 2 from Aubameyang, and an excellent 'team goal' from Ramsey made the game look completely one-sided. Therein lies the key so far. Emery must say something that changes the Arsenal team at half time. Every time the Gunners take the field in the 2nd half, there is a massive step up in intensity. The defensive frailties are still there, despite the dropping of Sokratis to the bench, however, Emery never promised a sound defensive style. No, he promised 4-3 victories as opposed to 1-0. FK Qarabag 0 - Arsenal 3: Arsenal went top of their Europa league table after an away victory against opposition that was much vaunted, but delivered little. Basically, Arsenal fielded their 2nd XI, however, despite the commentators enthusiastically spouting that Qarabag don't concede many goals, Sokratis ignored that and put the Gunners ahead in the 4th minute. Now, it would be fair to say that Arsenal's defence still looks a little shaky, however, new signing Bernd Leno was more than up to the task, in stopping a number of spirited efforts.  Arsenal's lead was doubled in the 53rd minute when 18 year old Smith-Rowe slotted home for his first Arsenal goal, and, apparently the youngest Arsenal player to score his first since a certain Oxlade-Chamberlain did the same. Smith-Rowe better keep up his fine form, what with his comparison to the Ox, and some other comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne by certain sections of the media. So, it that was…
