Verizon Adds 76 New Channels To FiOS TV Lineup, including 56 in HD In Philadelphia region
Verizon FiOS TV has announced the launch of 76 new channels in the Philadelphia region, which include 56 additional high-definition channels. Verizon claims that subscribers in Philadelphia region also includes parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware have more than 580 HD choices with 86 HD channels and more than 500 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles offered a month. Verizon says it now has more HD than both Comcast and RCN offered in this region.
“There’s HD on FiOS, and then there’s everything else,” said Beth Mulhern, Verizon’s director of consumer regional marketing in Pennsylvania and Delaware. “The addition of new HD and sports channels, along with new multicultural content and more, is part of our commitment to lead the industry in the scope and quality of our programming.”
Verizon’s new HD channels in Philadelphia region are Animal Planet HD, TLC HD, Science Channel HD, Smithsonian Channel HD, CNN HD, CNBC HD, Lifetime HD, Bravo HD, TBS HD, History Channel HD, Weather Channel HD, USA HD and SCI FI HD.
Verizon subscribers now can get 11 new channels from Cinemax and 13 new channels from HBO in HD and FiOS TV’s Movie Package, which now includes 13 new HD channels from The Movie Channel, Starz and Showtime, including The Movie Channel Xtra, Starz Edge, Starz Comedy, Starz Kids and Family,
Showtime, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme and Showtime 2.
Verizon has always placed a high priority on major sports programming and offering as much as possible in HD and has launched six new HD sports channels.
