Travel Channel Launches HD VOD

The Travel Channel, headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland launched a high-definition Video on demand (VOD) service. Anthony Bourdain – No Reservations, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and Samantha Brown’s Passport are the shows lined-up on the high-definition VOD service. The Travel Channel has launched its HD simulcast during January and now Cox Communications and Time Warner carry the HD version in several market areas. The Travel Channel’s president Patrick Younge said “Since launching our HD simulcast at the beginning of the year, we have made great strides in increasing the distribution for Travel Channel HD, Take up of our standard VOD offering has grown over 130 percent in the last year, which bodes well for our new HD VOD offer.”
