The Weather Channel expands its HD launch

According to Multichannel news, The Weather Channel HD, which was launched last year and to begin its HD broadcast from the new studio from June 2. The Weather Channel has entered carriage agreements with major operators like DirecTV, Dish Network, Time Warner, Comcast, Charter and Cox Communications. During the HD expansion last year, DirecTV added The Weather Channel HD to its line-up. Many cable operators started adding the channel in their HD line-up.

As announced earlier, Time Warner Cable will add the channel in Staten Island, the Bronx and Queens on April 30. The Cable operator has already included the channel in Albany, N.Y., Waco, Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Comcast is to include the channel in New Jersey by May and already added the channel in Boston and Brookline, Massachusetts areas.

Cox added the channel in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, La. last week. Charter launched The Weather Channel HD in St. Louis, Mo.; parts of Georgia and Virginia, North Carolina, Minnesota, Nebraska and Michigan.
