MLB Extra Innings: Free Preview on DirecTV
DirecTV offers Free preview of its ‘MLB Extra Innings’ package starting from March 31 to April 6 on channels 720—749. Many of the Extra Innings preview are to be in high-definition. If the subscribers signs for the MLB Extra Innings package before April 6, the satcaster is charging $179 for its exclusive coverage of Extra Innings games and $50 will be extra to add high-definition (SuperFan) broadcast of the package. DirecTV is planning to offer up to 40 high-definition games a week and up to 80 in standard definition. The main features of DirecTV’s ‘MLB Extra Innings’ package will be ‘Game Mix’ channel, viewers can enjoy eight games on screen at the same time.
DirecTV’s competitor Dish Network said they won’t carry MLB Extra Innings package this year. Time Warner customers will receive 10 out-of-market games in HD a week and can expect about 80 games in standard definition. Comcast also will offer up to 10 ‘out-of-market’ games a week in HD as well as up to 80 in standard-definition. Cox Communications in Rhode Island and San Diego will provide high-definition version of the games. Cablevision will carry the games but have not disclosed the amount of games and which areas the games will be broadcasted.
