ESPN has announced that it has signed a multiyear rights deal with the Australian Football League (AFL) to cover up to three live matches in each round of the home and away season. The agreement will run through this season till the end of 2011. ESPN will cover a number of Finals Series matches, including the Toyota AFL Grand Final from the Melbourne Cricket Ground in September.
ESPN will televise select AFL matches that include the Grand Final on ESPN2 and on ESPN360.com will stream live matches in USA. TSN or TSN2 will broadcast at least one live or delayed match per week in Canada.
