Discovery Home becomes Planet Green

Planet Green, the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network with a robust online presence and community of Discovery Communications launched on June 4 replacing Discovery Home. Entertainment reporter Maria Menounos, rocker Tommy Lee, rapper Ludacris, TV host Tom Bergeron and “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier are part of the Planet Green’s media team. David Zaslav, chief executive of Discovery Communications said during the launch that the network had spent $50 million to produce original programming for the channel.

Planet Green is planning to bring many original programming hosted by celebrities and personalities. The leading satellite provider DirecTV has added the channel in their programming line-up. Dish Network and Comcast also added the eco-friendly channel. Time Warner Cable’s digital customers will be able to start receiving Planet Green HD on channel 140. Cablevision Systems Corp. has also announced the launch of the Planet Green channel replacing Discovery Home.
