DirecTV exclusively cover MLB Extra Innings 2008
Apart from DirecTV, no other service provider would give in-depth coverage of Major League Baseball Extra Innings, the satcater will provide up to 40 high-definition games a week. Last year DirecTV signed seven year contract with MLB at an exclusive deal of $700 million. DirecTV’s competitor Dish Network, did not offer the package of out-of-market’ baseball games during the 2007 season. Dish Network’s spokesman Parker McConachie has confirmed to TVPredictions.com that they would not carry Extra Innings during the 2008 season.
Other operators like Cablevision, Cox, Charter and Time Warner carried the package last year. TVPredictions.com has issued inquiries to the four cable operators asking about their 2008 plans. This year Cox Communications say they will offer extra Innings in high-definition in San Diego and Rhode Island areas. Comcast has confirmed TVPredictions.com that Comcast won’t carry high-definition games but will provide standard definition games. Cablevision has declined to comment to TVPrediction on this issue and is expected to carry up to 60 games a week with 10 out-of-market games in high-definition.
