Comcast To Launch Wireless Internet Services in Portland

Comcast Corporation has announced that it will launch mobile Internet service in Portland in June this year. Comcast will use Clearwire’s new WiMAX network to provide high-speed, wireless Web access throughout Portland area and this will be the first city by Comcast to offer WiMAX service. Comcast is confident of bringing fast internet and also unlimited calling plans, beyond the home plan.

Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke of Comcast said “We are very interested in being able to offer a wireless component to our products, Portland will be the first city in the nation where Comcast will offer WiMAX service, Comcast will buy the service wholesale from Clearwire and resell it under the Comcast brand name, likely bundled with Comcast’s cable TV, phone and home Internet services.”
