ESPN And Verizon Team To Meet Fantasy Football Fans

ESPN and Verizon have announced that ESPN commentator and fantasy football analyst Molly Qerim is to meet sports fans on Saturday, Oct. 3. at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 163 East Bridge St. in Homestead to trade analyses and discuss fantasy football leagues and their burgeoning popularity in the U.S.

Verizon and ESPN representatives will be available for hands-on demonstrations of how Verizon FiOS and Verizon Wireless are providing fantasy football fans with access to their leagues and teams through FiOS TV, Verizon Internet and Verizon Wireless phones. Area fantasy football participants and other sports fans are invited to attend the event and participate in trivia competitions and prize giveaways.

Verizon FiOS1 To Deliver Live Broadcast of ‘Mendham vs. West Morris’ on Sept. 11

Verizon Communications has announced that FiOS TV’s regional network Verizon FiOS1 and the Star-Ledger have started co-producing high school football games of North Jersey on Friday Sept. 11. Verizon FiOS1 will broadcast Mendham versus West Morris, will be broadcast live at 7:30 p.m.

Verizon has launched FiOS1 New Jersey on the Verizon FiOS TV network in June to deliver viewers new options for hyper-local content including news, sports, traffic and weather, and other exciting programming.

FiOS1 and the Star Ledger will co-produce the “Turkey Day Classic” between Montclair and Bloomfield high schools, which will be broadcast live on Thanksgiving Day at 10:30 a.m., and four New Jersey state high school football games, which will be broadcast on Dec. 3 and 4. Also, FiOS1 will air four more state championship games live from Giants Stadium on Dec. 6. There will be tape-delayed broadcasts of other games.

Dennis Bone, president of Verizon New Jersey said: “We’re thrilled to kick off the fall sports season with what promises to be an exciting year for local sports in New Jersey. FiOS1 New Jersey will offer viewers a new opportunity to see a variety of high school and collegiate sports including football, soccer and so much more.”

Verizon Signs Agreement With New York University To Install FiOS Services

Verizon Communications has announced that it will deploy FiOS TV network in New York University’s faculty housing in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. An agreement has been signed by Verizon with the university and this agreement will allow Telco to install Verizon’s FiOS network and associated Internet and TV services at a university or college in New York City.

Verizon has started the installation work of FiOS TV network at NYU’s Silver Towers and Washington Square Village on August 3 and the faculty members living in the 2,300 units will be able to order the new services about the time the fall semester starts next month.

Christopher Levendos, Verizon executive director of FiOS engineering in New York City said “This is a significant installation for Verizon FiOS services. As we continue to expand our FiOS network to all parts of the city, the NYU faculty housing agreement gives local, regional and global educators an opportunity to see first-hand the power of an all-fiber-optic network.”

Verizon To Launch Multi-Platform Movie Channel ‘EPIX’

Verizon’s FiOS TV subscribers will receive top current Hollywood releases, 15,000 films from three of the top motion picture libraries, cutting-edge original programming and special events. This is because of a multi-platform distribution agreement signed between Verizon and EPIX.

EPIX is the new premium entertainment joint venture formed by Viacom, its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-MayerStudios and Lionsgate. EPIX will launch its next-generation premium entertainment channel, video on demand and Internet service that combines new and classic feature films and original programming, including series, music and comedy specials.

Verizon’s FiOS TV subscribers have facility to receive anytime, anywhere, across multiple platforms, including FiOS TV’s channel lineup and on-demand offering in standard or high-definition and FiOS Internet.

Verizon, FiOS TV customers will receive feature films on EPIX includes:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Marvel’s Iron Man
The studio’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Cloverfield

Verizon FiOS TV subscribers will receive a preview of EPIX on-demand and epixhd.com in the next few weeks. FiOS TV subscribers will be able to access EPIX content by selecting the “On Demand” button on their remote control, by choosing “VOD” in FiOS TV’s interactive media guide main menu, or by selecting FiOS TV’s VOD channel – 900.

Verizon has announced the launch of six new high-definition channels in its Verizon’s FiOS TV programming line-up. Verizon will be launching Entertainment Studios six HD channels. Entertainment Studios is the largest independent producer and distributor of first-run syndicated television programming for broadcast television stations in USA. Verizon To Bring FiOS TV Service To Clay Town Residents

Verizon will soon launch its FiOS TV serivce to the Onandaga County town residents as The Clay Town Board in the central New York region has approved Verizon as the television franchise. The Clay Town is the first municipality in the central New York region to approve Verizon and they have started building the infrastructure to deliver FiOS TV service later in the year.

This is the 148th TV franchise Verizon has secured in New York and The Telco is expecting more TV franchise discussions with other central New York municipalities during 2009.

Verizon has launched 14 new channels to its FiOS TV programming line-up in New Jersey. FiOS TV subscribers in Massachusetts received 13 new channels recently. Verizon claims that its FiOS TV subscribers in New Jersey receive 108 high-definition channels and more than 1,200 video-on-demand (VOD) titles offered every month. Verizon Communications has launched 13 new channels to its FiOS TV customers in the Massachusetts. Verizon is now offering 105 HD channels and more than 1,400 video-on-demand (VOD) titles every month.

New subscribers from Massachusetts signing FiOS TV between now and Feb. 21 will have option to receive their choice of free use for six months of either a high-definition (HD) digital video recorder (DVR) or an HD Home Media DVR.

Verizon To Offer FiOS TV service To The Residents of Maynard, Mass

Verizon Communications has received approval from The Board of Selectmen in Maynard to offer its FiOS TV service to the consumers from Nov. 25. Verizon will start offering its FiOS TV service through the most advanced all-digital, fiber-optic network straight to thousands of Massachusetts subscribers’ homes. This approval will allow Verizon to offer its services to 86 Massachusetts communities.

The Telco will offer more than 100 HD channels and more than 11,000 VOD titles per month and 8,500 of which are free in Massachusetts.

Verizon also will deliver high-speed FiOS Internet service with a download speed up to 50 Mbps megabits per second.

Donna Cupelo, Verizon region president for New England said “Verizon will compete aggressively for subscribers in Maynard with our FiOS services, which are fueled by our lightning-fast fiber-optic network. Verizon soon will begin its door-to-door sales campaign in the community, explaining to local consumers the many advantages of FiOS TV.”
